Microblading in Beverly Grove: What to expect at MUA Salon on West 3rd Street
We've been doing microblading in Beverly Grove since 2019 out of a small West 3rd Street studio between La Cienega and Sweetzer. This is the guide we wish existed before we opened — real pricing, real healing photos, and the honest reasons some people should not book microblading.

Where we are, and why the neighborhood matters
MUA Salon is at 8336 W 3rd St, on the ground floor between the Beverly Center and the Grove. Beverly Grove is the neighborhood the Beverly Center sits in — bordered by Fairfax to the east, La Cienega to the west, Beverly Blvd to the north, and 3rd Street to the south.
If you've searched "microblading near me" from a coffee shop on Beverly, Yelp probably surfaced a dozen brow bars in a 10-block radius. Most are inside larger salons where a rotating brow artist rents a chair one day a week. We're a permanent studio — the same PMU artist you consult with is the one who blades your brows, and we're at the shop six days a week.
What microblading actually costs at MUA Salon
Our pricing, updated for 2026:
- Microblading — first session: $500 (2 to 2.5 hours). Includes numbing, mapping, blading, and aftercare kit.
- 6–8 week perfecting session: $150 (required — this is where the color settles).
- Annual color boost: $250 (12–18 months out; keeps the strokes crisp).
We charge a $100 deposit to hold the appointment. It applies to your session. If you no-show, the deposit doesn't refund — that's the only way we can honestly guarantee walk-in slots for 3 clients per day.
Everything gets built on the salon platform account and goes straight to MUA — no Square Terminal fees passed on to you, no split reader accounts. If you see a $650 microblading price in Beverly Grove, that's usually a "starter" who charges above market because they take longer.
Who should NOT book microblading
This is the part most guides skip. We turn away about 1 in 20 consult requests, and we'd rather tell you now than after the deposit.
- Pregnancy or active breastfeeding. Hormone-driven pigment shifts heal unpredictably. Rebook after weaning.
- Accutane / isotretinoin in the past 6 months. Skin cell turnover is too fast — pigment doesn't hold. This is non-negotiable.
- Oily skin type. Microblading strokes blur over 6–8 months on oily skin. We honestly recommend nano brows instead ($750, done with a machine, holds crisp for 12–18 months). Not a hard no, but you should know.
- Active eczema or dermatitis on the brow area. We reschedule until skin is calm.
- Blood thinners in the last 72 hours. That includes aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, alcohol. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is fine. Never stop a prescribed blood thinner without your doctor.
- Menstruation days 1–2. Higher pain, more bleeding, worse retention. Days 5–14 of your cycle are ideal. Not a full no — we just tell you to expect a rougher session.
The Beverly Grove healing timeline — day by day
What clients text us most is "why do my brows look so dark today?" Here's what we tell them:
- Day 0 (appointment day): Brows look 20–30% too dark. Small amount of oozing. Blot with damp Q-tip (no wiping).
- Day 1–3: Deep, almost black. Slight swelling. This is normal — pigment is still on top of skin. Do not wash with soap.
- Day 4–7: Scabbing starts. Do not pick. Any strokes that come off with the scab won't hold color and need touching up at the perfecting session.
- Day 7–14: "Ghosting" phase — brows look almost gone. Panic-text us if you want; we've heard it 3,000 times. Color is not gone, it's underneath the peeling layer.
- Day 21–28: True color re-emerges — softer, more natural.
- Week 6–8: Perfecting session. This is where we fix any strokes that dropped out and adjust color.
Aftercare — the West 3rd Street version
LA is dry. West 3rd Street is not on the ocean. What this means: your brows heal faster and drier than the aftercare pamphlets written for Miami or New York. Our LA-specific aftercare:
- Apply the Aquaphor we send home very lightly 2× a day for 7 days. LA air will scab you fast; over-moisturizing softens the crust and makes strokes migrate.
- Skip the gym, hot yoga, sauna, and pool for 10 days. Sweat pushes pigment out of shallow cuts.
- Sleep on your back for 7 nights. Pillow friction on side-sleepers is the #1 cause of asymmetric healing we see.
- Sunscreen (mineral, SPF 30+) starts day 14. LA UV fades pigment 2× faster than the East Coast average — this is why our color boosts land at 12 months and not 18.
- No brow products for 14 days. After that, powder is fine; pomades still not for 30 days.
How we do it differently
Three things that are just our shop and not everyone's:
- 3-client daily cap. Microblading is fatigue-sensitive. Stroke pressure changes on artist number 4 of the day. We won't do it.
- Photograph before, mid, after under identical lighting. You get all three via SMS same day. If a stroke drops out, we know exactly where.
- Turkish-technique mapping. Burcin was trained in Istanbul before moving to LA. The mapping uses caliper measurements from your nose bridge, not just golden-ratio templates. Result: brows that match your face — not an Instagram average.
Alternatives, if microblading isn't right for you
- Nano brows — machine instead of blade, better for oily skin, holds 12–18 months. $750.
- Strong brows (ombré / powder brow) — soft-pixel machine technique, looks like tinted powder. $700.
- Brow lamination + tint — 6-week temporary alternative. $85. Great to try the shape before committing.
Parking, walking, and where to eat after
Real Beverly Grove logistics from someone who's driven this block every day for 4 years:
- Parking: 2-hour metered on 3rd Street. Free at the Beverly Center (P4 level) with validation from any store — walk to us in 6 minutes across La Cienega. Do not use the lot behind Trader Joe's on 3rd — they tow.
- Walk-in: If our door is unlocked and no other client is mid-session, we take walk-ins for consults. Microblading itself is booked-only.
- Coffee before: Skip it. Caffeine tightens capillaries and increases bleeding. Have herbal tea at Alfred's on 3rd instead.
- Food after: Erewhon at 3rd & Fairfax, Kismet across from Beverly Center, or Joan's on Third for a proper LA post-appointment meal.
Book a microblading consult in Beverly Grove
Consults are free and 20 minutes. We look at your natural brows, discuss your skin type, and decide together whether microblading, nano, or something else is right. If we don't think you're a good candidate, we'll tell you and refund the deposit before you book the full session.
